The speed limit won’t be coming down on a section of North Parallel Road, despite one resident’s pleas.

The speed isn’t going down on North Parallel Road, despite a plea from the owners of a home along the route.

Those residents had called for a lowering of the 80 km/h speed limit near their home, citing a reduction in visibility due to a small hill near McDermott Road.

City staff, however, determined that there isn’t significant speeding in the area and that while the hill does compromise some views, they still meet standards for Canadian roads.

In 2009, the city also changed the road markings to a double solid line to eliminate the passing zone, and a hidden driveway warning has been installed.

Staff say in a report that they will be discussing adding driveway reflectors at the site.
