Collision took place Tuesday morning at Bell and Hallert roads

A 64-year-old motorcyclist from Abbotsford died in a collision Tuesday morning (May 18) at Hallert and Bell roads on Matsqui Prairie.

Abbotsford Police Sgt. Judy Bird said first responders were dispatched at 11:12 a.m. for the collision between the motorcycle and a small SUV-type vehicle.

The driver of the SUV was not injured, remained on scene and is cooperating with police, Bird said.

The exact circumstances of the crash are still under investigation. Patrol officers, members of the traffic enforcement unit and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) remain on scene.

Bell Road is closed between Harris Road to Townshipline Road, and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dashcam or CCTV footage is asked to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.

A serious crash between a motorcycle and a pickup truck also occurred Monday afternoon in Abbotsford at the intersection of Ware Street and Bevan Avenue.
