A mother and her child were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries following a crash at about 10:30 a.m. today (Tuesday) at the corner of George Ferguson Way and Garden Street.
Const. Ian MacDonald said although the three-year-old boy was buckled into his carseat at the time of the crash, the seat had not been secured in the vehicle and hit the floor on impact. The boy is believed to have suffered a broken leg.
The pair were travelling east in a Honda Accord along George Ferguson Way when they collided with a Ford F150 pickup making a left turn – to head west – from the parking lot adjacent to Thumpers Patch produce store.
The mother was treated for facial cuts and bruises. The driver of the truck was not injured.
