The developers behind Chilliwack’s Five Corners redevelopment are finalists for a national housing award for an Abbotsford residential project.

The Algra Bros. is one of only a few B.C. companies named for the Canadian Home Builder’s Association (CHBA) National Awards of Excellence.

The annual competition recognizes the best in Canadian new homes, home renovations, community development and marketing.

Algra’s East Abbotsford development, Timberlane, was chosen in two categories from over 700 entries from coast to coast, including detached homes 2,101-to-2,400 square feet and detached homes over 2,800 square feet.

In 2013, Algra Bros won the award for their Brownstones on the Boulevard project in Garrison Crossing in Chilliwack.

“The competition for these awards is impressive,” Dave Algra said in a company press release. “We are proud of our team and honoured to have not just one, but two of our home models be amongst the top-five new homes in all of Canada.”

Located on the southern slope of Sumas Mountain in East Abbotsford, Timberlane’s 59 contemporary-styled single family homes overlook the Sumas Prairie with views of Mt. Baker. Timberlane has four home models, Cedar, Cypress, Juniper, and Sitka. The Cedar, a master-on-main rancher style, and the Juniper, a three bedroom for young families, are the two CHBA National Award of Excellence finalists.

The winners will be announced at the CHBA gala taking place in Banff, Alta., on April 3.

Algra Bros. designs and builds residential and commercial properties, including Garrison Crossing and the redevelopment of the Five Corners area of Downtown Chilliwack.

Algra Bros. will be relocating their offices from Abbotsford to Chillwack this spring.

Last year, Alair Homes Chilliwack was a finalist for the CHBA National Awards in the category of custom detached homes from 3,500-to-5,000 square feet for a house on Chilliwack Mountain.
