In any local riding, each party’s performance is judged not only on who wins, but how they perform compared to the last time voters headed to the polls.
In 2017, the BC Liberals lost power after the BC NDP picked up enough seats during the election to be able to team up with the Green Party. But despite seeing their fortunes decline provincially, each of the party’s local candidates actually increased their share of the vote compared to 2013.
With polls favouring the BC NDP, repeating that will be a huge challenge for the party.
To give you a sense of how things transpired the last time Abbotsford residents headed to the polls, here are the 2017 results in the three Abbotsford ridings.
