Abbotsford police are investigating a shooting that took place at approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of Meadows Street.

Police arrived to investigate reports of gunshots, and discovered that a home on Meadows Street near Dolphin Avenue and a car in the driveway had been hit by several bullets.

Police set up containment after witnesses reported seeing a man running from the scene. With the assistance of a canine unit, police located a suspect, who was taken into custody and questioned. He has been released, and police do not believe he was connected with the shooting.

Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald said a family lives at the home, and there were people there when the shooting took place. He said the house was in darkness, and the gunman was shooting at the windows.

Fortunately, nobody was injured, said MacDonald.

He said there is no apparent motive for the shooting.
