Girl falls out of car while boyfriend does 'doughnuts'

Abbotsford Police were called after a passerby observed the incident

A 16-year-old girl suffered minor injuries after falling out of the car while her boyfriend was doing "doughnuts" in a parking lot on Monday night in Abbotsford.

A passerby observed the incident in the 32700 block of South Fraser Way at about 10:30 p.m. and offered to call an ambulance, said Const. Ian MacDonald.

Instead, the 18-year-old driver said he would take the girl to hospital, and the two drove away from the scene. The witness then called police and provided the licence plate of the 2003 Honda Civic, which police tracked down to a neighbouring parking lot.

The girl was taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment of scrapes and bruises. The driver's car was impounded for seven days and he was ticketed for driving without due care and attention.
