FortisBC to hold emergency training exercise in Abbotsford

FortisBC is holding an emergency training exercise tomorrow (Thursday) at a natural gas fueling station in Abbotsford for safety purposes.

The exercise will take place at the fueling station on Riverside Road, near Fourth Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

FortisBC spokesperson Grace Pickell said the event will also test the emergency response procedures at FortisBC facilities and the coordination with local emergency responders.

“This should not be mistaken for a real event; however, there will be utility trucks and emergency vehicles going to and from the site,” Pickell said.

She said FortisBC anticipates minimal impact to station operations and none to the surrounding community during the time of the exercise.
