For the first time this spring, Abbotsford hockey fans made their way to the intersection of South Fraser Way and Gladwin Road on Wednesday evening to celebrate a Canucks playoff win.
The top-seeded Canucks were staring elimination in the face, trailing the Los Angeles Kings three games to none in their best-of-seven first round series, but they stayed alive with a 3-1 triumph in L.A. They were sparked by the return of Daniel Sedin, who was back in the lineup after missing the first three games of the series due to a concussion.
In the aftermath, local fans flocked to the South Fraser-Gladwin intersection, the traditional celebration spot in Abbotsford, cheering, waving flags and honking car horns.
