Evacuation order issued for Abbotsford townhouse units after mudslide

An evacuation order was issued Sunday night (Nov. 28) for seven units in a townhouse complex on Whatcom Road in Abbotsford.

An evacuation order has been issued for several units in a townhouse development on Whatcom Road in Abbotsford due to a mudslide.

As well, some residents on Sandringham Drive have been put on evacuation alert.

The order, issued Sunday night (Nov. 28), is for units 12 to 18 in the Forest Ridge condo development at 2842 Whatcom Rd.

The alert is for the following addresses on Sandringham: 36187, 36191, 36915, 36199, 36203, 36267, 36211, 36215, 36219 and 36223.

Those who evacuate are asked to register at the reception centre at Tradex, adjacent ot Abbotsford International Airport.

No information about the mudslide was available at this time, but approximately 100 millimetres of rain fell in Abbotsford on Saturday and Sunday.
