Starting this Saturday, July 15, it will cost you five cents more to cross the Golden Ears Bridge.

The toll was increased to $3.20 per crossing for users with the TReO decal and $4.45 for pay as you go. The five cent increase has happened ever July since the bridge opened in 2009.

In 2015, TransLink collect $48.7 million in Golden Ears tolls, up nearly $5.2 million from what it budgeted. It anticipated further growth of 4.1 per cent in 2016.

Usage of the bridge has gone up year after year. Growth in traffic over the bridge in part reflects an increase in driving in general within Metro Vancouver as well as a rise in vehicles purchased, according to TransLink.
