City of Abbotsford extends Community Clean-up Week to Community Clean-up Month for 2021

Residents encouraged to beautify their neighbourhood ahead of Earth Day on April 22

The City of Abbotsford has extended their annual Community Clean-up Week to a Community Clean-up Month for 2021.

The longer timeframe will allow more opportunity for residents to beautify their neighbourhood by volunteering, contributing to environmental stewardship and encouraging social responsibility, said a news release from the city.

The citizens of Abbotsford are urged to pick up garbage around their workplaces, schools, parks, trails and streets until May in celebration of Earth Day on April 22.

Residents can access free clean-up supplies by registering at www.abbotsford.ca/volunteerapplication, or emailing volunteer@abbotsford.ca.

Teachers are also encouraged to link the clean-up efforts to the Ministry of Education’s prescribed learning outcomes for a hands-on learning experience.
