Chamber to host all-candidates meeting

The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce will host an all-candidates meeting for federal election candidates in the riding.

The Abbotsford Chamber of Commerce will host an all-candidates meeting for federal election candidates in the riding.

The event is set for April 28, 7 p.m. at Garden Park Towers. Canadians go to the polls on May 2.

The event will have the same format as in past years, and a panel will present questions to the candidates.

Prior to the event, the party representatives are given between 20 and 30 different questions to prepare for, then are asked some of them at random – the questions pulled out of a hat.

Each candidate is given a limited number of rebuttal cards, and if they would like to counter the statement of a different party member, they can play their card and be entitled to speak.

“That creates the sense of a debate, without there being a full-on debate,” said Chamber manager David D. Hull.

There will be an opportunity for members of the public to pose questions to the candidates.
