Another teen charged in relation to Lower Mainland gang conflict

Police find drugs following search of central Abbotsford home

Another teen who police say is involved in the Lower Mainland gang conflict has been arrested and charged.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the Abbotsford Police Department (APD) executed a search warrant on June 7 at a central Abbotsford home near Clearbrook Road.

MacDonald said the search turned up several drugs, including fentanyl.

Akshay Sachdeva, 18, has now been charged with four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He was out on bail at the time following an assault charge from May 26.

MacDonald said that assault involved Sachdeva allegedly punching a 52-year-old woman in the face.

Last week, the APD said information about gang arrests and charges would become more prevalent.

This followed the arrest of Inderdeep Minhas, 18, who had failed to appear in court for three firearms-related offences and for obstructing a police officer.

At a public crime forum held in Abbotsford in May, Police Chief Bob Rich said the majority of people involved in the Lower Mainland gang conflict reside in Abbotsford.

Anyone with information about gang-related crime is asked to contact the APD at 604-859-5225, text abbypd (222973) or call Crime Stoppers at 1-880-222-8477.

Anyone needing help or advice about gangs can email helpyouth@abbypd.a or call 604-864-4777.
