Abbotsford council approves funding for eight agencies

Two receive a total of $45,000 more than last year, and the rest receive the same.

Abbotsford council has approved funding requests from eight agencies, and has deferred a decision on one for Ledgeview Golf and Country Club.

Six of the agencies received the same amount as last year, except for MSA Museum Society, which is up $25,000 from 2011, and Abbotsford Restorative Justice, which received $20,000 more than last year.

Ledgeview is seeking $250,000 in funding, and the matter will be considered at the council meeting on March 5.

Funding requests were approved for:

• Agrifair – $90,000;

• Abbotsford Arts Council – $18,000;

• The Reach Gallery Museum – $625,000;

• Elizabeth’s Wildlife Center – $14,000;

• MSA Museum Society – $75,000;

• Restorative Justice – $120,000;

• Tourism Abbotsford – $70,000; and

• Abbotsford Youth Commission – $195,000.
