Abbotsford Agrifair in full swing

The 2012 Abbotsford Agrifair is currently underway with tons of family friendly entertainment.

The Abbotsford Agrifair is known as the "best little country fair" and offers a variety of stage entertainment, vendor booths, rides, and the largest gathering of 4-H'ers and their animals in the Fraser Valley.

The theme for this year's event is "Where Pigs Fly," in honour of the upcoming 50th anniversary celebration of the Abbotsford Airshow.

The Agrifair attracts over 36,000 visitors each year who come to honour Abbotsford's rich farming history and support agriculture in the community.

Currently celebrating 102 years of country fairs, Agrifair has become a yearly tradition for many attendants, and continues to exhibit an impressive lineup of entertainment from afternoon to evening.

The main stage features both local and regional talent, as well as the fourth annual Valley Voices singing competition.

The Mighty Fraser Pro Rodeo is returning to Agrifair and is sure to be a crowd-pleaser once again. Sit back in the stands and enjoy as professional cowboys and cowgirls from across North America compete for top prize money in rodeo events such as bull riding, barrel racing and bareback riding.

The five-day event provides the community with friendly family fun, and offers an assortment of educational displays, demonstrations and competitions.

Gates are open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Monday, Aug. 6. Admission ranges from $5-$10. There will be a free pancake breakfast on Sunday, beginning at 8 a.m. For more information, including event listings and directions visit agrifair.ca
