Lawrence Tilley, a retired local businessman, is among those running for Abbotsford council.
Tilley has lived and worked in the Abbotsford and Mission area for more than 20 years.
“My wife Dennie and I help with seniors applications for grants and assist where we can in making the home safer and more comfortable so seniors do not end up in assisted living; staying at home is what they all want,” he said in an email to The News. “I am legally handicapped and am on the wrong side of retirement age, which fits the demographics for this area perfectly.”
In the email, Tilley said: “I am non political, non religious and non racial, I believe in equality for all, any age, colour or gender.”
Tilley says he has “an open door policy.”
Voters head to the polls Oct. 20.
