Indoor air quality matters. Here’s how to get it

The Meer Mechanical team is ready to install AccuClean for you.

With today’s tightly sealed, insulated homes, the quality of air indoors can be exponentially worse than that outside. And that can pose serious issues for people who suffer from allergies and asthma, especially as we head inside for fall and winter.

But how can you improve indoor air quality, especially without constant cleaning?

AccuClean, part of the American Standard company, is a whole-home filtration system that removes up to 99.98 percent of airborne particles, including a surrogate of the virus that causes COVID-19, and removes 99.9 percent of the influenza (H1N1) virus. It’s also been certified by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, a certification that directs customers to scientifically proven products for those suffering from asthma and allergies.

“There is nothing in this industry that comes even close to cleaning the air the way this product does,” says Kim Peters, a self-described “comfort consultant” for Chilliwack’s Meer Mechanical, who’s been installing AccuClean systems for 20 years.

AccuClean: How it works

The AccuClean system has a removable filter that captures virus and other particles as small as 0.3 microns. At 100 times more effective than traditionally used filters, the collection cells are the heart of the filtration system, and once vacuumed, will function like new. A pre-filter traps larger airborne particles, and the field charger then charges incoming particles so they stick to the collection cells.

4 reasons to consider AccuClean for your home:

  1. Improved indoor air quality: “I have never had a complaint on this product. I have actually seen it change lives. I know one customer personally who has asthma and says that he can breathe properly for the first time in his life,” Peters says.
  2. Less housework: The AccuClean filtration system actually reduces and traps dust by 50 per cent.
  3. Easy maintenance: A painted sheet metal cabinet protects the filters and components, and a power door indicates when it’s time for maintenance. Collection cells only need to be vacuumed once or twice a year.
  4. Reputable: In addition to its certification by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation, AccuClean’s performance levels in the home have also been verified by the Harvard School of Public Health.

“The greatest thing about this product is while your furnace is running, the whole home is filtered up to eight times per hour. It pulls out dust, dog hair, cat hair and stops harmful virus particles before it gets into the furnace, which can later accumulate and cause trouble,” Peters says.
