Join students in Columbia Bible College’s Healthcare Assistant Program starting this March or September, and make a difference every day.

It has been the year of the healthcare hero.

Doctors and nurses risking their lives to help save ours. Hospital cleaning staff, paramedics and lab technicians are all working overtime to manage a rising workload. Healthcare aides in hospitals, complex care facilities, Assisted Living, group home settings and private homes have stepped up to keep our most vulnerable loved-ones safe.

Do you feel called to help?

Columbia Bible College is giving you the opportunity to make a difference. Healthcare assistants are in desperate need across Canada, and with the proper training, you can lend a hand.

Healthcare Assistant Program

Columbia Bible College’s Healthcare Assistant Program helps students develop caregiving skills that promote the comfort, safety and independence of the patients in their care. Certified by the Private Training Institutions Branch (PTIB), this program also has interim recognition from the BC Care Aide and Community Health Worker’s Registry.

You’ll learn healing practices to care for patients’ spiritual, mental and physical health and powerful communication techniques to connect with your patients. Then you’ll apply that knowledge in real-world settings, with the mentoring and guidance of professional supervisors. You will gain expertise and confidence on-the-job, as you are connecting with clients and coworkers in various work settings.

You’ll study within a Christ-centered community that inspires you to see your work as a calling: to compassionate, life-affirming care.

“We have been able to learn how to treasure God’s people by the works of our hands, a gift that truly keeps on giving,” says Hailey Unger, a current student of the program.

Healthcare grants

The Columbia Bible College Healthcare Assistant Program takes less than a year to complete, so it won’t take long before you’re doing meaningful work in this critical field. 100 per cent of the program’s students have received multiple job-offers upon graduation! Many of the college’s partners are ready to hire HCA students to support service jobs with flexible shifts while they go through the program. This allows students to develop a sense of the environment they will be working in upon graduation.

Now is a great time to enter the field because the Ministry of Health is releasing new grants to help cover your education cost. Combine Ministry of Health grants with Columbia Bible College bursaries, and you’ll be able to finance the majority of your tuition fees.
