Otter Co-op members recieved over $6.2 million in cash and equity this month.

The cheque’s in the mail – just one reason Otter Co-op members are celebrating this summer!

The annual patronage cheques will be mailed shortly, with patronage reimbursement at more than $6.2 million this year.

“We’re thrilled to announce the patronage reimbursement for 2023,” says Jack Nicholson, CEO of Otter Co-op and Angry Otter Liquor. “At Otter Co-op, our members are at the heart of everything we do. It’s their continued support and trust in our Co-operative that enables us to thrive and make a positive impact in our community.”

“We’re excited to give back to our valued members through this reimbursement, which will both provide them with additional funds to spend as they please and help stimulate the local economy where we live, work and play,” Nicholson says.

Otter Co-op memberships are a one-time purchase of $10 and provide members with a variety of benefits. Members get cash and equity back on every purchase made at Otter Co-op locations and Angry Otter Liquor locations. Members can vote on the Otter Co-op board of directors, receive 10% off food and beverages at any of their three restaurants, including The Highwayman Pub in Abbotsford and receive exclusive deals and promotions.

This year’s patronage reimbursements equated to:

  • 6 cents back on every litre when members fuelled up at their local Otter Co-op gas bar
  • 3 per cent reimbursement on food, liquor, propane and hospitality purchases
  • 2.5 per cent back on dyed fuel, oil and grease
  • 2 per cent reimbursement on feed mill purchases
  • 1 per cent back on general merchandise and pharmacy purchases

And it’s not just members who benefit from another successful year at Otter Co-op. In 2022, Otter Co-op supported their local communities with more than $419,000 in donations and sponsorships to 125 B.C. organizations and non-profits. They have also recently announced a $50,000 community grant being awarded to Julia’s Junction, an inclusive playground in West Kelowna for children with physical or mental disabilities.

Travelling through the Okanagan this summer?

Otter Co-op recently opened new gas bars all around the Okanagan area, making it easier for co-op members to enjoy their membership benefits in more communities throughout B.C.

“We’re incredibly excited to have opened these new locations and have the opportunity to expand the number of services we can offer our guests and members all across B.C.,” Nicholson says. “These new locations offer a great selection of products, bright, clean washrooms and of course more opportunities to earn cash and equity back on every purchase.”
