The Abby Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Night is set for Saturday, May 4.

Yuk Yuk’s Media is bringing veteran international comedian Cedric Newman to Abbotsford next month.

Fresh off an appearance on CTV’s Amazing Race Canada, Newman will be headlining at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium on Saturday, May 4.

The Toronto funnyman has toured extensively across North America and Europe and has worked with some of the Canada’s top names such as Russel Peters, Shaun Majunder and Gerry Dee.

Newman was a finalist on the Comedy Network’s Great Canadian Laugh Off, appeared on CBC and has also appeared at comedy festivals such as the Halifax International Comedy Festival.

Newman has battled through recent challenges, including supporting his mother through her battle with dementia which subsequently found him in a state of depression for the first time in his life. With the support of his son Tychon-Carter, a mental health advocate, Newman has brought these experiences to a wider audience.

“I faced a tough time, but my son played a crucial role in guiding me through it, both in private conversations and in the public eye. Once I began to heal, I found the courage to bring these experiences to the stage, though it wasn’t initially easy,” Newman stated. “Sharing our personal stories onstage, and searching for humour within them, can be daunting. Yet, with my son’s support, I not only navigated through that challenging period but also discovered a newfound confidence under the spotlight.”

Langley’s Katrina Bennett will be the host, with Chilliwack’s Keller James, Ray Morrison also performing. Alannah Britney is the Abbotsford event’s co-headliner.
