Students, staff and Abbotsford Police complete obstacle course to raise money for student courtyard

It was a beautiful day for the third annual Bear Brawl at St. Brebeuf Secondary School on Friday (May 3).

The goal of the event was to raise $25,000 to put towards a new outdoor student courtyard, with some of the funds also set to supplement the school operating budget. The community was encouraged to pledge a student.

The school field was transformed into 12 obstacle courses that included balancing, running, scaling a wall, and a slip and slide.

Students did the course according to grade, and then had the option to compete in the timed team competition in the afternoon. The Abbotsford Police Department brought a team to support the event. Local elementary school students came to watch and also joined in the fun.

Students also had the opportunity to challenge a teacher to a joust in a bouncy pit. This was a popular component of the event.

There was also a concession stand for the hungry and thirsty finishers.
