Amongst a flurry of transactions this past week, the Vancouver Canucks announced that Swedish defenceman Elias Pettersson has been assigned to the Abbotsford Canucks from Orebro HK Jr. in the Sweden J20 SuperElit league.

Pettersson was drafted by the Canucks 80th overall at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The 20-year-old is not related to Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson who he shares the same name.

Pettersson has played four games with Orebro HK Jr., recording seven points. He also has 14 points in 34 games with Vasteras IK in the Sweden First Division League this season.

Pettersson will wear number 26 in Abbotsford. There was no indication given on when he will play.
