A two-day cycling fundraiser brought in more than $7.1 million for cancer research.
Tour de Cure rolled through the Fraser Valley Aug. 26-27 all while raising money for the BC Cancer Foundation.
The event began in Cloverdale on Saturday, Aug. 26 with more than 1,500 cyclists beginning a two-day journey from there to Hope. Participants rode either 200 kilometres or 260 kilometres, depending on their route choice.
That fundraising amount is up from last year’s where $6.3 million was raised.

The annual event is B.C.’s largest cycling fundraiser and has raised more than $120 million since its inception in 2009.
“Thank you to the incredible Tour de Cure community for another remarkable year — it’s an honour to ride with you,” said Sarah Roth, president and CEO of the BC Cancer Foundation. “All donations raised through this event directly support BC Cancer Foundation, bringing hope to our loved ones.”
Tour de Cure, presented by Wheaton Precious Metals, supports more than 20 programs at BC Cancer Foundation, including clinical trials, research into numerous types of cancers, screening programs and enhancements to supportive care services.
