Pair of pedestrians struck blocks apart on same street within 10 minutes in Abbotsford

Incidents occurred on Tuesday afternoon on South Fraser Way in central Abbotsford

A pair of collisions inside 10 minutes on the same street in Abbotsford left two pedestrians with serious injuries on Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 6).

Const. Art Stele, media officer with the Abbotsford Police Department, said the first incident occurred at about 2:20 p.m. at the intersection of Gladwin Road and South Fraser Way.

Stele said a female pedestrian who was hit by a car was conscious and was taken to hospital with serious injures that were not life-threatening. No further details were available.

About eight minutes later, officers who were in the area saw a second collision involving a pedestrian, this time at the intersection of South Fraser Way and Alliance Street.

As officers were immediately at the scene, medical aid was provided to the victim and additional resources were called.

The victim in that incident also had serious injuries that were not life-threatening.

Stele said the two collisions were not related and the drivers in both cases remained at the scene.
