A new Urgent and Primary Care Centre opened its doors at the Junction Shopping Centre in Mission on Monday (April 22).

According to signage, the Fraser Health facility on London Avenue will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends, with services varying depending on day and time.

Primary care will be available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, while urgent care is open from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.

Public health is also located in the facility and open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday, with appointments available on evenings and weekends. Health protection services are open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Fraser Health website says Urgent and Primary Care Centres help patients who don’t have a family doctor or are unable to see them. They provide timely care for urgent, non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries.

Fraser Health’s examples of when to visit an Urgent and Primary Care Centre include cuts that need stitches; new wounds such as burns; skin, sinus or lung infections; worsening pain; new mental health issues such as low mood, anxiety or depression; nausea and diarrhea; and pain or burning when peeing.
