Two Chilliwack-area farmers are set to star in the second season of the CTV show Farming For Love.
The premiere airs May 29, featuring a “fresh crop” of single farmers who explore the potential of relationships with “hand-picked” dates in an effort to “cultivate” true love.
Joined by host and comedian Sabrina Jalees the pair of local farmers chosen are Josh Matzek and Kirkland Douglas.
Over the course of 10 episodes set in B.C.’s rural communities, the four farmers invite their chosen dating partners to live and work alongside them on their farms in hopes of growing a romantic connection.
“Hearts soar and break in the same breath as, week after week, the stakes get higher while they navigate emotional surprises and difficult decisions,” according to the release for the upcoming season premiere.
Here’s how they describe the season 2 farmers:
• Kirkland, a two-spirit, gay ex-rodeo champion turned cattle farmer and horse boarder from Rosedale, B.C
• Josh, a hockey-playing, cowboy-hat-wearing dairy farmer from Chilliwack, B.C.
• Erin, a second-generation soil-to-shelf dairy farmer from Creston, B.C.
• Mischa, a fourth-generation beekeeper and orchardist from Lillooet, B.C.
“In the season 2 premiere, ‘The Start of My Love Story’ airing Wednesday, May 29 at 10 p.m. the fresh fresh crop of farmers will meet the hopefuls vying for a shot at romance and a coveted invitation to experience love in the country back on the farms.”
The show is based on Fremantle’s long-running and successful international hit format The Farmer Wants A Wife, which produced 200 weddings and more than 500 children to date.
