War history for youth at The Reach

Children can learn about the Second World War from author Hugh Brewster

Abbotsford children will have the opportunity to learn about the Second World War on Nov. 7 when an author will give a multi-media presentation at The Reach.

Toronto’s Hugh Brewster has written several children’s books, published by Scholastic Canada, and his talk will be before 100 youth attending that day in the Great Hall of the Reach.

“The Navy: A Century in Art,” with war art from the famous Beaverbrook Collection, ties in with Brewster’s presentation. Children will learn about war from Canadian artists’ perspectives — some of note being the recently deceased Alex Colville and Arthur Lismer from the Group of Seven.

Brewster will follow this talk with one for adults at 7:30 p.m. on the same day.

To register for either of these events, call 604-859-7814 (extension 229) by Nov. 5. The Reach is located at 32388 Veterans Way.
