The Vancouver Cantata Singers will perform in Abbotsford on Friday

The Valley Concert Society is presenting the Vancouver Cantata Singers in concert on Friday (March 8).

One of Canada's top choirs, the Cantata Singers have won the Healy Willan Grand Prize – the Canada Council's top choral prize – more times than any choir in Canada. Under the direction of Eric Hannan, they perform a wide range of repertoire.

On Friday the first half of the program will include the sublime sacred music of composers such as Byrd, Stanford, and  Brahms, ending the half with the luscious Ave Maria by Franz Biebl.

After the intermission, they will include such favorites as My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose; Loch Lomond; and Shenandoah along with a variety of other works.

Everyone is sure to find a number of favorites in this concert of considerable variety as well as discovering several musical gems that are new.

The concert takes place at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (32315 South Fraser Way) and begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available for $25 by phoning 604-859-5192.
