Since 2011, the city of Abbotsford has been ranked third in Canada for its cultural diversity.
To celebrate this multiculturalism, the Abbotsford Arts Council is hosting Cultural Treasures, a three-week multi-disciplinary exhibition showcasing the diverse cultural heritage of the Fraser Valley.
Different artists share their stories at the Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware St.) from May 14 to June 7. An opening reception takes place Saturday, May 14 from 6 to 8 p.m.
Throughout the exhibition, there will be a few workshops that express various aspects of culture.
Rhythm Resource will hold a drum-playing workshop on May 14 at 2 p.m. On May 29, Darren Charlie of the Sts'ailes band will give a Voice of the Drum workshop.
Registration is required and can be done online at abbotsfordartscouncil.com/workshops.
In conjunction with the exhibition, the gallery will provide tours to elementary and secondary schools every other Friday at 1 p.m., starting May 20 and running until June 17.
Teachers wishing to book a tour can send an email to info@abbotsfordartscouncil.com.
