Rockin’ River offers deal to Mountainfest ticket holders

Organizers of the annual Rockin’ River country music festival in Mission are offering a little help to jilted Merritt fans

Organizers of the annual Rockin’ River country music festival in Mission are offering a little help to country music fans who were impacted by the cancellation of the Merritt Mountainfest.

“Mountainfest fans who have purchased tickets for the now-cancelled festival will be given free tickets to the Rockin’ River Thursday night Kick-Off Party,” said Rockin’ River organizer Kenny Hess.

“We will also honour our early bird price on any other tickets the Mountaifest ticketholders are interested in, for the rest of Rockin’ River Music Festival.”

The Kick-Off Party goes Aug. 9 and features Aaron Pritchett, Karen-Lee Batten, Tyler Whelan, and Brent Lee.

The festival runs Aug. 9-11 at Mission Raceway Park (32670 Dyke Rd., Mission) with: Blue Rodeo (Ontario), Randy Bachman (B.C. Gulf Islands), Dwight Yoakam (U.S.), George Canyon (Nova Scotia), One More Girl (Vancouver), Ridley Bent (Vancouver), Aaron Pritchett (Pitt Meadows), The Higgins (Delta), and 2010 Canadian Country Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year Victoria Banks (Ontario).

Also on the bill are Hess, Batten, Lee, Whelan, Todd Richards, Chris Buck Band, The Matinée, Shane Chisholm and Stacey McKitrick.

Rockin’ River is bigger and better in 2012, expanding from two to three nights for the first time in its four-year history. Rockin’ River Music Festival tickets and camping reservations are now available at rockinriverfest.com.
