Grammy-nominated country singer Thomas Rhett is coming to Abbotsford Centre on Wednesday, May 3 for his first headlining tour, it was announced today.

Rhett drew capacity crowds overseas last year and now appears with special guest Brett Young for his debut headlining run in Canada, dubbed the Home Team Tour.

He also plans to return to Europe and add additional U.S. dates.

Rhett is the son of American country music singer and songwritter Rhett Atkins.

He “has established himself as one of the most consistent hitmakers in country music,” according to CMT and is known for his “retro, soul-inspired danceable mix of arena-sized tunes and hooky melodies” (Associated Press).

Rhett continues making pinnacle waves with the fastest rising single of his career Star Of The Show, featured on his 18-track Tangled Up Deluxe.

The release is filled with party anthems, dance tunes, drinking songs, love ballads and five never-before-heard track.

It also includes his double platinum six-week chart-topping smash Die a Happy Man, which has garnered major trophies from the Country Music Association, Academy of Country Music, Billboard Music Awards and CMT Music Awards and is currently nominated for a Grammy.

Brett Young is an American country music singer who took up songwriting after getting injured as a college baseball pitcher.

He released a six-song self-titled EP in February 2016.

The Abbotsford concert starts at 7 p.m. Tickets range from $39.50 to $59.50 (plus fees and taxes) and go on sale staring Friday, Feb. 17 at 10 a.m.
