Culture, Coffee and Cookies (C3) returns to The Reach Gallery Museum (32388 Veterans Way) this month.

On Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 10:30 a.m, music man Marty Franklin presents Sonic Vibes. Franklin, originally from the UK, is a jazz vibraphonist who has been performing since 1962.

He will play American songbook standards in addition to some of his own compositions, and he will explain the unique attributes of this unusual instrument.

On Jan. 20 at 10:30 a.m., historian Molly Ungar shares her knowledge on Personality and Politics: The Life and Times of Pierre Elliott Trudeau.

In her audiovisual talk, Ungar will provide an intriguing glimpse into his life, his legacy and his continuing influence on Canadian society.

Ungar is an associate professor at the University of the Fraser Valley, and received her PhD in Canadian history from York University in Toronto. She moved to Abbotsford 11 years ago and teaches courses on Canadian and Quebec cultural history.

On Jan. 27, docent Morian Perepelitza presents a tour of  A Terrible Beauty: Edward Burtynsky in Dialogue With Emily Carr.

A Terrible Beauty is a selection of photographs by Toronto-based photographer Edward Burtynsky, who is internationally renowned for his captivating images of natural and built environments that reflect both the impressive reach of human enterprise and the extraordinary impact of our hubris.

Burtynsky’s work is presented with a smaller selection of paintings and drawings by Emily Carr, a legendary B.C. artist who also observed the impact of human industry on the natural world in some of her more widely recognized works.
