Arts funding for four local groups

The B.C. artsVest program has announced a total of $23,500 in Abbotsford

Four Abbotsford arts, culture and heritage groups have received a total of $23,500 in funding from the B.C. artsVest program.

These groups are the Abbotsford Arts Council, Abbotsford Children’s Theatre Society, The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford and Gallery 7 Theatre.

The program offers in-depth sponsorship training workshops and year-round support, including information on how to apply for matching incentive grants, approach the local business community, and generate new revenue streams.

The organizations are also invited to apply for a matching grant to be used as an incentive to spark business sponsorship opportunities.

The groups have six months to do this and submit a sponsorship confirmation form outlining their new business partnership.

The program was developed by Business for the Arts, a national association of business leaders who support the arts, and expanded across Canada in 2011.

In 2013/14, artsVest BC communities raised three to six times their matching grants from local businesses.

This year a total of 63 organizations across B.C. qualified to participate in the artsVest program.
