AGRIFAIR: There will be a winner every day

Come to Agrifair and watch contestants compete in the Amazing Race, brought to you by the Abbotsford News.

Come to Agrifair and watch contestants compete in the Amazing Race, brought to you by the Abbotsford News.

One lucky participant will have a chance to win a share of $2,000 in cash.

On Saturday, Aug. 4, 10 hopeful participants (five teams of two) will vie for first, second and third cash prizes.

If you feel the Amazing Race is a little beyond your league, you can always follow the cutout of Penny the Pig in a scavenger hunt to win $100 per day. But be careful, Penny has about 11 brothers and sisters, so you have to find the right Penny. Scavenger Hunt questionnaires will be available at the entry gates and the guest services booth.  Drop off your completed entry at guest services. Don’t forget to look for the piglets. Hint: You will find them in the food court.

If you think you’ve got texting down, enter the texting competition brought to you by Clearwest Solutions for a chance to win a brand new phone. You have to be “the fastest texter in the Fraser Valley.” Registration will be at the Clearwest booth on the fairgrounds and at guest services.

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday participants will get a text to participate that day. There will be six contestants daily and the final two from each day will go on to Monday’s finals. Monday will have six finalists texting to win a phone (finalists for the Monday competition will receive fair passes).

You may not even have to enter contests to win at Agrifair. Don’t be afraid if an Agrifair volunteer comes up to you and asks, “Do you mind answering a few questions?” This just might be your opportunity to win tickets to the Rockin’ River Music Festival.

There you go: A chance to win $1,000, a $100 prize, a new phone or tickets to a great music festival.
