Abbotsford singer Cambree Lovesy is competing in a CBC song contest. She wants her fans to vote for her online.

Known as the “little girl with the big voice” by her fans in Abbotsford, Cambree Lovesy is on the fast track to stardom.

The 14-year-old singer/songwriter is celebrating a Top 20 regional win in the CBC Music Searchlight contest, with her original song Shatter.

Lovesy is now competing in round two of the contest, alongside competitors such as international touring artists Tiller’s Folly, and actively lobbying through her Facebook page and her school, Clayburn Middle, where the film club is running promos and reminders daily on their morning news program. The promos are encouraging students and teachers to vote daily until the polls close on March 3.

On March 4, the Top 5 acts (most votes) from each region across Canada will move forward to round three.

The overall winner in the national contest will be featured in a CBC music video session, paid to perform at a high-profile music showcase in Toronto, and will receive $20,000 in music equipment courtesy of Yamaha Canada Music.

Lovesy signed an artist development contract with Abbotsford’s DMG ( the same that nurtured Victoria Duffield, Kirsten Collins and KAT) in 2011. Owner Darcy D has been providing Lovesy with vocal lessons since she was 10 years and which led her to the stage through the provincial Valley Voices Vocal Competition in 2010 where she placed third in her category.

In 2012, DMG brought Fair Wend Entertainment Services to her team and together they are focusing on her image, brand and online presence before recording and releasing her first official single.

Lovesy has already performed on major festival stages as well as performing the national anthem regularly for the Abbotsford Heat, Abbotsford Pilots and the Fraser Valley Bruins, as well as for the Abbotsford Skating Club’s Icing the Red Carpet and the BC Lions and Calgary Stampeders game at BC Place Stadium.

To date, Lovesy continues to work on her songwriting craft, her voice and her guitar, with teacher and band mate Talen Waver, and has developed a unique style and sound that crosses over to the Pop, Alternative Rock and Country genres.
