Abbotsford Arts Council hosts Summer Fever

Latest exhibit opens Saturday at Kariton Art Gallery

The Abbotsford Arts Council presents its latest exhibition, starting this Saturday, Aug. 12 at Kariton Art Gallery (2387 Ware St.).

Summer Fever is a group exhibition by the Fraser Valley chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists.

The show runs until Sept. 12, and all artists used the colour red in their work, referencing the heat of the summer.

Red is associated with longing and lust, as well as strength, vibrancy, and fire. These themes have been woven throughout the exhibit and capture the overall spirit of the summer season.

The exhibit features 22 artists working in acrylic, oil, watercolour and mixed media.

An opening reception takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Aug. 12. There will be light refreshments, and the artists will be in attendance.

The Fraser Valley chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists is a group dedicated to furthering artistic knowledge and fostering fellowship among artists.
