Earlier this month, five students and two teachers from Yale Secondary participated in the Canadian Student Leadership Conference in Montague, Prince Edward Island.
The conference was attended by 1,000 students from across the country. The students participated in workshops that focused on developing their leadership skills, as well as looking at self-awareness, event planning, staying motivated and how to deal with mental health issues.
They also heard from keynote speakers, including General Rick Hillier, Phil Boyte, Jessi Cruikshank, and Martin Latulippe.
It was a very busy week, but the students were able to get time to see the sights and experience Prince Edward Island culture. They visited a potato farm, saw a performance of Anne of Green Gables, went to Confederation Bridge, and provided an afternoon of service work in the community.
The students have all said it was an incredible experience and they were also able to make lasting friendships with other students from around Canada.
Local students included Anna Holota, Shahnee Piers, Brooklyn Wnuk, Shayla Bird and Andrianna Lanji. Yale teachers were Soraya Rajabally and Doug Primrose.
