Two local families are among those being helped by Variety – The Children’s Charity, which hosts its annual telethon this weekend.

The Variety Show of Hearts Telethon takes place Feb. 14 and 15 on Global TV.

Variety raises funds and distributes grants in support of children with special needs and organizations that provide services to these kids.

These kids include Cody Mutch and Joshua Gammon of Abbotsford.

Cody, 10, was born without eyes and has been diagnosed with autism.

Variety has helped him three times – with a Braille keyboard, vision therapy and relationship development intervention.

Joshua, 15 months, was born with serious heart defects that resulted in surgery. Later complications also resulted in bowel surgery.

Variety helped Joshua’s family by providing a grant to pay for expensive medication supplies as well as financial assistance from the B.C. Association of Family Resource Programs.
