Two locals chosen for Shad Valley program

The Abbotsford teens will spend a month living at a university campus this summer.

Two Abbotsford students have been selected from more than 1,200 applicants across Canada to attend the award-winning Shad Valley program starting next week.

Pranav Arya and Silke Kuhn are among 620 youth selected for the four-week program, beginning June 29.

Students in Grades 10 to 12 spend a month living at one of the 12 host universities – including the University of B.C. – across the nation. They attend workshops and lectures on the sciences, engineering, technology and entrepreneurship.

They also participate in team-building exercises, recreational activities and visit tourist attractions.

Those selected have top marks, a strong community focus, and come from diverse backgrounds.

Shad Valley International is a non-profit organization based in Waterloo, Ont.
