A tree-chipping event and bottle drive takes place Saturday, Jan. 9 in the parking lot of Matsqui Hall (33676 St. Olaf Ave.) in Abbotsford.
The fundraiser runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will follow physical-distancing protocols. Volunteers will be on site to unload trees for chipping, by donation, and to accept bottle donations. People will not need to get out of their vehicles when they do their drop-off.
The money raised will go towards operating funds for the hall, which is normally rented out for various events throughout the year, including corporate Christmas parties. The hall also holds several community events for kids and families in a typical year.
