Toys for Tots Breakfast raises $56,000 and more than 2,000 toys

Record year for event held in support of Abbotsford Christmas Bureau
This year’s annual Toys for Tots Breakfast raised $56,000 in cash donations and more than 2,000 toys.

The fifth annual Toys for Tots Breakfast raised a record $56,000 in cash donations and more than 2,000 toys for the Abbotsford Christmas Bureau.

The event, held Nov. 24 at the Quality Hotel and Conference Centre, invited the public to enjoy a free buffet breakfast in exchange for a toy or cash donation.

Each guest was greeted by Abbotsford service members – firefighters, paramedics and police.

In addition to breakfast, the morning included Christmas music, a visit from Santa, a festive craft corner, a photo booth and a visit from “princesses.”

One guest, Raquel, was attending for the first year and said she was impressed with the event.

“My expectations were blown away. The friendly volunteers, performers, and fantastic food helped our family kick off the season with the right intentions – hospitality, community, and giving. I am certain this will be a family tradition for years to come,” she said.

The Abbotsford Christmas Bureau – which serves as the food bank the rest of the year – expects to help more than 1,200 kids this season.

Last year’s breakfast raised more than $32,000 and 1,600 toys.
