The annual Terry Fox Run takes place in Abbotsford on Sunday, Sept. 16.
The event is held at Tradex, with registration starting at 8 a.m., followed by the run at 9 a.m. Participants can walk, run or wheel their choice of three routes – 2 km, 5 km or 10 km.
Organizers are inviting individuals to participate, as well as encouraging all companies and organizations to enter a team to raise money for cancer research.
There is no fee to enter. Participants are simply asked to make a donation or raise funds online or by using a pledge sheet.
It was 38 summers ago that Terry Fox captivated the country with his determination to find a cure for cancer.
His Marathon of Hope came to an end on Sept. 1, 1980 – after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres – when he became too ill to continue due to the return of his cancer.
