Ten local women chosen for Dress for Success program

Pariticipants to travel to Vancouver for breakfast, new clothes and makeovers.

Ten women from Abbotsford will receive new work and/or interview clothes, thanks to the support of some local businesses.

The women, who may not have access to a vehicle, have been selected through the AbbotsfordWORKS project to travel to the Dress for Success location in Vancouver on Feb. 3, said organizer Nicolle Hodges, a broadcast journalist and former Abbotsford resident.

Dress for Success is a not-for-profit organization that provides professional attire and development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Each participant will be outfitted with new work and/or interview clothes, which are donated to Dress for Success by individuals, businesses and organizations.

On the morning of Feb. 3, they will meet at Brookside Inn in Abbotsford for breakfast organized by Slap Communications, and will then be picked up by a shuttle service courtesy of Mile’s End Motors. Each woman will also receive a gift bag containing treats from various Abbotsford businesses.

A motivational speaker will accompany them on the drive.

While in Vancouver, they will receive new outfits and have 30-minute makeovers provided by Holt Renfrew, which will also supply gift bags and refreshments.

They then return to Abbotsford in the afternoon.
