Tell Us Another Story: Event brings awareness to mental health issues

Creative Centre Society hosts a presentation called “Tell Us Another Story – Recovery Stories Inspire Change” on Friday, May 11 in Abbotsford.

Doors open at 7 p.m. at Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (32315 South Fraser Way). It features eight people from all walks of life speaking for eight minutes each about their struggle and recovery from a mental health issue.

Three musical guests will be interspersed throughout the evening. Organizers say the evening is “a storytelling atmosphere of overcoming pain, hopelessness and isolation.”

“We pull the veil back from the secrecy and stigma surrounding mental health,” the say.

A pre-show takes place at 7:30 p.m., and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 and are available online at eventbrite.ca (search “Tell Us Another Story”), in person at Abbyhouse (3676 Gladys Ave.) or by phone at 604-850-1235 (ask for Adina or Christine).
