A teacher at Upper Sumas elementary school is sporting a new haircut after students at the school exceeded their fundraising goal to support the Run for Water.
This year, the Run for Water will raise funds to brings access to clean water in Yella, Ethiopia.
The students worked on personal projects at home such as bake sales, lemonade stands, selling eggs, collecting bottles. They did chores for family and gathered donations. When challenged by teacher T.J. Klim to raise money for the Run for Water, they went above and beyond expectations.
Klim challenged the students to raise $1,000 and if they reached this goal, he would shave his head. The students doubled the target and donated $2,326 for the charity.
“I’m so proud of the students and entire staff who rallied together to raise funds to support clean water and education for children in Ethiopia,” said Darlene MacDonald, the principal.
