Tabor Village in Abbotsford has announced the acquisition of Valhaven Care Home.

The acquisition closed on Jan.16 and increases Tabor Village’s capacity to care for an additional 26 seniors, says Dan Levitt, executive director of Tabor Village.

Tabor Village has operated Valhaven under a lease agreement since December 2015 and has provided care for seniors since 1960.

“After careful consideration while operating Valhaven over a 12-month period, it was decided that purchasing the complex care community was in the best interest of employees, seniors, their families and the broader community,” said Hildegard Bandsmer, Tabor Village chair.

With the acquisition, Tabor Village will employ more than 400 employees and volunteers on two campuses, providing care for 144 complex-care seniors, 104 spaces of assisted living, and 39 units of independent living as well as residential properties.
