Students plant poppies to commemorate First World War

City staff, veterans, and Grade 2 students at John MacLure Community School gathered in commemoration of the First World War at City Hall on Wednesday.

To mark the 100th anniversary of the war, Mayor Bruce Banman, veterans from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #15 and Mrs. Miller's Grade 2 class planted 100 poppies at the cenotaph at Civic Plaza.
