This is a list of just some of the activities taking place in Abbotsford over the next week

ELVIS SHOW

The Abbotsford Eagles Club (33868 Essendene Ave.) features performer Randy “Elvis” Friskie with the Cruisers band on Saturday, May 9 as a fundraiser for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Eagles bar.

FAMILY FUN DAY

The Abbotsford Early Childhood Education Committee presents a free Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Rotary Stadium (corner of Maclure and Trethewey).  Activities include bouncy castles, crafts, entertainment and more.

RIDGEDALE LADIES DAY

The Ridgedale Rod and Gun Club (35655 Harris Rd.) hosts its annual Ladies Day on Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is free and  open to all ages. Info: 604-826-0552, ladiescoordinator@ridgedale.net or ridgedale.net

BURGER BASH

JUBILEE CELEBRATION

The annual Mother’s Day breakfast at Jubilee Community Hall (7989 Bradner Rd.) takes place Sunday, May 10.  The event runs from 8 a.m. to noon and the breakfast includes sausages, scrambled eggs, fruit cocktail and all-you-can-eat pancakes. Cost is $6 and free for children under six. Info: 604-856-4375

LEGION BREAKFAST

The ladies auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion (2513 West Railway St.) in Abbotsford holds a Mother’s Day breakfast on Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $7, and there will be a special gift for mothers.

SALMON RELEASE

Ravine Park Hatchery holds its annual Mother’s Day salmon release on Sunday, May 10 from noon to 2 p.m., and the public is invited. The hatchery will release 10,000 coho salmon fry into Stoney Creek in the area where it crosses Old Clayburn Road close to McKee Street. Children are encouraged to participate and will be given a pail of fish to release into the creek. There is no charge.

SCANDINAVIA CLUB

The Scandinavian Club of the Fraser Valley meets at 6 p.m.  on Monday, May 11 at the Masonic Hall (33860 Pine St. ) for its monthly potluck dinner. The evening has a Finnish theme. Info: Len at 604-857-2740, Eigil at 604-870-8601 or email jensenke@shaw.ca

QUILTERS’ GUILD
