Slice of Life: March 19 to 22


The Art Matters Society hosts a Memory March and an International Celebration of Women on Saturday, March 19. The walk/vigil begins at 10 a.m. at Mill Lake and honours 4,000 murdered and missing women and children. It concludes with a meditation/vigil at civic plaza. The Celebration of Women is from noon to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Best Western Conference Centre, 32110 Marshall Rd. A Mardi Gras dance with the band Code Blue and special guest Roxanna Sabir takes place Saturday, March 19 at Straiton Hall, 4698 Sumas Mtn. Rd. A “Thru the Decades” dance takes place Saturday, March 19 at Jubilee Hall, 7999 Bradner Rd. with the March Hare Show Band, whose members change their appearance to match the artists whose music they are performing. On Tuesday, March 22, the production of Charley’s Aunt – presented by Fraser Valley Stage – raises funds for the First Abbotsford Scouts. Ten dollars from each ticket sold will be donated to send youth to a week-long Scouts “jamboree.” The play continues until March 26. Tickets are $20 and $18.
